Toronto’s Festival of Beer – Spring 2016

A few months ago, I was invited again to Toronto’s Festival of Beer – Spring Sessions.

I found the weather this time to be much improved and perfect for a beer festival. The sun was blazing with occasional drafts of wind coming from the lake and not a dark cloud in sight! Very nice weather to pair with some cool craft beers and yummy food. A lot of people just sat on the grass relaxing while listening to music and some were playing outdoor games like jenga, checkers, chess, bocce ball and connect four.

I brought a friend to come along and we had poutine from Smoke’s Poutinerie while sampling some beers. Our favourite beers that day was cider from Brickworks Ciderhouse and the pale ale “Canuck” from Great Lakes Brewery. I also believe the English ale “Pompous Ass” from Great Lakes Brewery was quite popular with the crowd too. It was probably sold out around mid-day. There was also Beau’s All Natural Brewing Company, which I didn’t get a chance to try then but I think its another great brewery. I’ve sampled their beers at other media events and especially like the Tom Green and Lug-Tread beer. Other participating breweries there included Mill Street Brewery, Henderson Brewing Co., Creemore Springs Brewery, and more. As for the food options, there was The Pie Commission, Oyster Boy, Tiny Tom Donuts, Ontario Corn Roasters, and more. Overall, it was a nice and relaxing event to sip beers with friends and meet new people.

If you missed out on the event or perhaps looking for another beer festival on a grander scale with more breweries and live music, check out this Toronto Festival of Beer event on July 22-24, 2016. Click here to buy tickets but hurry cause Saturday is already sold out! Here is a little information on the event:

  • The festival will work alongside the Swedish-Canadian Chamber of Commerce to feature six Swedish breweries, 28 different brands of beer and two renowned Swedish Chefs.
  • Music playing that weekend includes House of Pain with Maestro Fresh Wes on Friday, Big Sugar Reggae Style with Lucas DiPasquale on Saturday, and The Temperance Movement with Attica Riots on Sunday.
