Winterlicious 2016: My Top 10 Picks

Hi Foodies,

New year, new restaurants and a new Licious list for my foodie followers. Wanted to get this out earlier but I’ve had a crazy busy week.

My new list is totally different because I wanted to recommend different restaurants and just think certain menus are more interesting this time. I want to change it up a bit! I also feel a few restaurants were disappointing and lacklustre in the past. Some restaurants need to step up their game if they want to attract new clientele. I know we are getting a deal but food and service should not be so noticeably lacking compared to what they usually provide.

Prix fixe menus vary from $18, $23, $28 for lunch and $25, $35, $45 for dinner. Here is a list of my suggestions below:

1) Nota Bene
Price: $28 Lunch/$45 Dinner
Note: A few of my foodie friends say it’s worth visiting. One of them being the creator of The Toronto Café and Food Blog, who remembers she enjoyed her dining experience a while ago. Never been myself but have always wanted to. They don’t do weekend reservations for Licious though. Why Nota Bene? Why?! Worth checking out if you can manage to coordinate it with your schedule. Also, this might be interesting. They are trying to do a Ramen dish for their Licious lunch menu!

2) Yazu No Hana
Price: $18 Lunch/ $25 Dinner
Note: Can’t believe this place is on Licious! I’ve walked by this place many times and have always been curious to check it out. Good reviews but kind of pricy. This would be a good opportunity to visit.

3) Sidecar
Price: $18 Lunch/ $25 Dinner
Note: Heard such buzz about it when it first opened. Has good reviews and know some people who have enjoyed it. I plan to be dining here for my Winterlicious!

4) The Chase
Price: $23 Lunch/$35 Dinner
Note: Went for a media event and for a Christmas dinner with friends too. Food here is pretty good but service can be slow. Usually pricy, good time to check it out.

5) Bar Buca
Price: $18 Lunch/ $25 Dinner
Note: If you want to try something from Buca but perhaps not splurge for it. This might be a good way to try them out.

6) Mildred’s Temple Kitchen
Price: $23 Lunch/ $35 Dinner
Note: Been here for a Summerlicious lunch with relatives. Nice décor, good food and an awesome brunch spot, I would go again! I recommend their burger, its pretty tasty and popular enough that it justifiably has its own hashtag. lol.

7) Insomnia
Price: $18 Lunch/ $25 Dinner
Note: This place is very popular and I have been here on a regular day. They have some yummy eggs benny! Service is kind of slow because its packed but if you are in the mood for a really good breakfast/brunch place, you should check this place out.

8) Union Social Eatery
Price: $18 Lunch/$25 Dinner
Note: Never been but reviews look good. Their most popular location is in Mississauga though.

9) Café Boulud
Price: $28 Lunch/ $45 Dinner
Note: Never been but they went under a new menu reno and I’m interested in checking out the décor. Décor is not a make it or break it factor for me but this place looks really nice and  is located in Four Seasons Hotel.

10) East Thirty Six
Price: $23 Lunch/ $35 Dinner
Note: Never been but reviews look good and cocktail drinks look yummy! Possibly a good date night option?

If you are wondering what restaurants I would avoid, just leave a comment on my blog or Facebook.

Hope this helps!
