Delysees has been the talk of the town with my foodie friends. With so much buzz and temptation of macarons, I decided I had to pay a visit!
Walking in, the decor is definitely contemporary – lots of glass, white walls and metal chairs. There is a good amount of seating available, with even a large group table for 6 in the back. Ideally bring a group less than 4 to be comfortable. In terms of service, there was a lot of staff members on hand. They were friendly and nice, no issues there.
I did notice a few kinks in the shop but I’m sure they are fixed by now. For example, finding the unlocked cleaning room inside their customer bathroom. It was a bit out-of-place next to the sink so I had curiously tried the door thinking perhaps it led to another exit or something. Haha.
Moving on to the food, I tried the macarons ($13.50 for half a dozen) in flavours: double chocolate, orange blossom, red velvet, vodka cranberry, lychee raspberry and cappuccino. While I enjoyed the double chocolate, orange blossom and cappuccino, I noticed the vodka cranberry did not have a strong vodka taste to it. The filling was very creamy and smooth though. In comparison, the lychee raspberry filling had a rougher texture and tasted mainly of raspberry. Not sure I really liked that one.
I also tried the sandwiches. Loved the chocolate croissant, its yummy and the bread was oh-so-soft. The bocconcini rye sandwich with mini tomatoes (pictured below) was okay. Just found the rye bread a bit too firm for my tastes.
If you’re planning a visit, I suggest bringing a small group of 4 or less for lunch. Good for coworkers and friends.
